Johnson AR | 2013-present | Architect: SILO AR+D
The proposed adaptation of this abandoned 20 acre post-agricultural site places a new residence (SILO AR+D) at the boundary between two primary zones – upland and lowland. An upland forest, meadow, fruit orchard, and gardens diversify the previously grazed upland fields, while providing choreographed views from within the house. An enhanced floodplain riparian wildlife buffer on the lowland portion of the site helps to repair a degraded creek ecosystem. Walking trails and seating areas for bird watching take advantage of the rich habitat of the floodplain meadow and woodland.
